First announced at E3, the latest entry level gaming headset Tritton Kunai is now available for PC and Mac platforms. First thing most will notice is how sleek the overall design is. For an entry level unit, its aesthetics are fantastic. Our test unit came in a gorgeous white gloss finish with black striping. The side of the product packaging is clear showing off the attractive headset held within. On the back of the packaging you’ll find all the basic features and cable length.

When one thinks of a decent gaming headset most gamers picture spending anywhere from $100-$300 dollars. After the unboxing, we were frankly shocked this headset came in at only $59.99. For PC gamers on the budget, the Tritton Kunai offers quite the performance punch for a bargain price. The headset houses 40mm speakers with Neodymium magnets that deliver a truly impressive range of sound.

We started off our testing with beating up thugs in Batman: Arkham City. Everything from the music score to each punch and kick was crystal clear. Next up was Metro: Last Light. The explosions and sound of nearby gunfire and the creatures within came alive with an acute intensity, immersing players that much more into this post apocalyptic world. Our next game of choice was Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Here we were able to test out the mic. The Kunai allows gamers to adjust their voice volume or mute the mic instantly. This is made possible by the in-line audio controller which enables players to make sound adjustments with zero hassle. The mic itself performed great and dynamic sound quality from the Kunai certainly gives players an advantage by letting them know where the enemy gunfire is coming from. When not gaming, you can use the 3.5mm plug to connect the headset to your smartphone, iPod or various other mobile devices to listen to your music library adding even further value to this unit.

Fitment is just as vital as is the sound of any headset. Luckily the Kunai is again quite comfortable thanks to the soft black padding lining the interior ear pads that are wrapped with a soft leather like material. Headset comfort is of utmost importance during extended gaming sessions. The headset extends up to 1.25 inches on either side to attain that perfect fit for a wide variety of players. The earcups actually swivel allowing the Kunai to rest around one’s neck for a more relaxed fit. Another terrific addition is the ability to remove the mic when not needed.

Key Features:

  • Precision-balanced 40mm speakers with Neodymium magnets provide superior sound quality
  • Separate game and voice volume controls
  • Durable and flexible performance microphone
  • Ergonomically designed for extreme comfort and extended gaming sessions
  • Compatible with most MP3/Smartphone/Mobile Devices
  • Designed for Extreme Comfort
  • Easy-to-Use In-line Audio Controls
  • Supports Online Chat

Final Thoughts

The Tritton Kunai definitely sets the bar pretty high for entry level gaming headsets. It’s versatile, sleek and most importantly functional with sturdy well performing components. It delivers a wide range of sound while playing games or when listening to MP3′s. There are no doubt higher end models that offer deeper bass and richer sound but this also comes at around 4 times the price tag. This is a fantastic headset with impressive features that is absolutely perfect for any gamer on a budget.
